In the first sentence in the third paragraph under the headings RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS, DATA AND SAMPLE COLLECTION, the sentence was corrected to read: “Metabolic profiling was performed on a total of 1,600 cord plasma samples from offspring of Afro-Caribbean, Mexican American, Northern European, and Thai ancestry (400 from each ancestry group) as well as 1,600 maternal fasting samples.” 3. Maternal BMI and Glycemia Impact the Fetal Metabolome.
OBJECTIVE We used targeted metabolomics to determine associations of maternal BMI and glucose levels with cord blood metabolites and associations of cord blood metabolites with newborn birth weight and adiposity in mother-offspring dyads. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Targeted metabolomic assays were performed on cord blood serum samples from European ancestry, Afro-Caribbean, Thai, and Mexican...
متن کاملThe impact of maternal glycemia and obesity on early postnatal growth in a nondiabetic Caucasian population.
OBJECTIVE Offspring of mothers with diabetes have increased birth weight and higher rates of obesity in early childhood. The relative role of maternal glycemia and maternal obesity is uncertain. We therefore studied the impact of maternal glycemia and maternal obesity on offspring birth measures and early postnatal growth in nondiabetic pregnancies. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We studied 547 ...

Higher Cord C-Peptide Concentrations Are Associated With Slower Growth Rate in the 1st Year of Life in Girls but Not in Boys
OBJECTIVE To understand the relationships between maternal glycemia during pregnancy and prenatal and early postnatal growth by evaluating cord C-peptide and IGF-I as mediating biomarkers in boys and girls separately. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We evaluated 342 neonates within the EDEN mother-child cohort study born to mothers without diabetes diagnosis before pregnancy. We measured maternal...
